This short, prose poem was inspired by the steel-engraved type ornament that appears in the middle of the text. While taking a course on letterpress printing in 2007 at the University of Illinois, I found the ornament in the print shop and drafted the poem on the spot directly on a composing stick. The poem is necessarily brief because I did not want to write more than would fit on the stick. Ten signed and numbered copies were printed on BFK Rives paper.
The piece makes its digital debut in response to a March 26, 2014, posting on EXLIBRIS-L.
